Valencia was not lucky with an arbitration decision that took place at the Camp Nou during the closing stages of the match in which Barça beat the Che team by a minimum, on matchday 24 of the League. In the 86th minute, the youth player from Rubén Baraja’s box, Fran Pérez, received a very clear foul inside the area by Franck Kessié, but Alberola Roja did not award a penalty. This consideration of the referee of the match was not reviewed in the VAR, where Jaime Latre was.
This referee already had two resounding failures from the VAR in two actions that were evident, both were against Real Madrid. The first of these occurred at the Santiago Bernabéu on matchday 11 of the league competition, a game in which the Whites won 3-1 but an attack by Papu Gómez left Fede Valverde injured. The Argentinian forgot about the ball and went directly for the midfielder’s leg and, even so, he got away with this serious action, since the Aragonese referee did not even threaten to see it again from the VAR.
The other action took place three days later, also at the Madrid stadium, where the Cádiz center-back, Fali, grabbed Rodrygo by the head until he felled him and, although the game did not stop at the time, it was not reviewed by Jaime Latre in either the VAR. Two actions with which what happened at the Blaugrana stadium is better understood, a penalty not reviewed from the VOR room that could have led to a tie for Valencia in a match in which Barça once again stood out more for this type of action than for its game.
